Cable television history, the second highest overall ratings for television u. S. An event that President Trump today seemed pleased with with. I thought the debate last night was great. Weve gotten tremendous reviews on it. Were hitting what people want, law and order which biden was unable to even talk about because theyd lose the radical left, his radical left followers. I dont think theres too many of them left. But i thought it was a great evening. It was an exciting evening. I see the ratings were very high, and it was good to be there, felt very comfortable. And i appreciate all the good words. Lou well, last nights debate was tense and often times rough and tumble. President trump showed americans once again he is a fighter. The president offering razorsharp criticism of biden. He challenged biden on law and order, questioned his support among the Bernie Sanders radical left and, of course, his son hunters corrupt dealings overseas. China ate your lunch, joe, and no wonder. Them sustainable and working and active, we really have the best tool that is out there that is widespread, its natural, and it is very economical to sequester carbon out of the atmosphere. You come to this as a forester yourself, the only one in congress, graduate of yale, master of forestry there must have been music to your ears when you heard the president getting behind this. Its near and dear to me. Look at the planet theres 3 trillion trees on the planet. We have 300 billion of them here in the u. S. And we do a good job of taking care of our forests here. We can always do better and thats part of what is in the bill. Not only to plant a lot of trees but also to take care of the forests we have. And then the neat thing about trees is they produce wood, which by its raw weight is 50 pure carbon so when we harvest a tree and make a product the car been says in wood for as long as the structure is there. This table, part of the wood, you see wood around the studio here, that carbon

My honor the convene this plenary, and when we were planning the conference, we always liked to bring our heavy hitters out. And i think that today is one of those occasions, in which we have a collection of fine scholars and activists here to address the theme. So what we are, and what we have decided to do is to run the plenary more as a round table, and the moderated conversation about the issues with the great migration, and i wanted to introduce our panelists, and give them an opportunity to speak for a few minutes as far as their own work and perceptions and ideas about the great migration, and then move on to the question and answer followed by a discussion with us, and followed by a question and answer session with the audience. So i wanted to introduce our panelists. The first panelist is joe trotter who is a giant history professor and prior with the Carnegie Mellon center in pittsburgh, and previously the president of the africanamerican studies in the urban life and economy

I also want to tell you he he wrote editorials for the chronicle one of the pulitzers he won was for that the Editorial Page Editor at that point at one point was jeff, who had been the total editor. And jeff told me about joe that you could give him any topic to write about. And within a few hours youd have a very nice piece. Did he ever tell you that he. Did not tell me that but. Well, joe, i think youd like to start off with a brief reading to kind of set things up for sure. Thank you, rick. Thank you all for coming.
