mendes, a new hour of american voices, and we begin with breaking news. just hours ago, a third unidentified objects was shot down over north america. canadian prime minister justin trudeau tweeted that they successfully downed the object using a u.s. f 22 a jet. it s unclear whether the latest object has anything to do with the chinese by balloon shutdown off the coast of carolina s just last week or the object that was down over alaska on friday. a short time ago, the pentagon issued a statement saying that president biden worked with trudeau to break down the crime. the statement also said that the u.s. to take to the object over alaska late friday night, and continuing to monitor as across into canadian and a minute, now we are waiting for an update. but for, now we have dan joining us for a new update. jeff, you asked me to tell you what it s coming in. so what did we learn from this incident? i think we ve got a few more details but hopefully we re gonna get a lot m
involved in that approach. another thing i was struck by, joel, right? there was a question during the q&a about whether or not there was any belief that this object was tied to china. you had the defense minister being very careful, they re saying, we do not know. we do not have full information yet. we have a lot of analysis that needs to take place. i wonder if you, joel, can walk us through what that analysis looks like, right? they now have debris. they are going to examine it. how do they begin the assessment? i imagine it has already begun, the assessment of the place and origin of these objects. that is right, alicia. there is the actual materials that will be recovered. the fbi teams will go up there, some are already there, certainly to look at the actual materials, and to find all these materials. it will take an information of what the pilots saw, as was discussed earlier by dan, and
information and is shared and the context that is given, what will you be watching for, both in the substance of what is said, and the questions that they choose to answer? , and the questions th you kno little information provided about yesterday s incident, and very little even about the chinese spy balloon, that it ll be interesting to see if the canadians take a similar cautious approach, where they re still trying to assess what they have, and try to figure out what can be shared publicly. i think it will be interesting if they share information from what their pilots saw. what did the canadian and american pilots see from their caucus? because, of course, as the f-22s we re tracking this object from alaska, canadian fighter jets and other aircraft join the formation. they looked at it and there were some discussions before they took it down. so, that s another question. and then, if other questions,
some are already there, certainly to look at the actual materials, and to find all these materials. it will take an information of what the pilots saw, as was discussed earlier by dan, and f-22s, and what they were experiencing, what they were watching these objects in the sky, certainly create new diagrams and maps of how these objects got their, and try to construct a full understanding of these objects. and you know, of course, the big 64,000 dollar question is, where did it come from? and hopefully, gathering this information, this intel, will build up that idea. and i think it just demonstrates a strong responsible relationship right now that we re seeing with this defense minister and with our president, and going slow, in terms of ensuring that we re getting the information right, but not going slow in terms of defending our country and our homeland, and certainly, canadian territory as well. but being very responsible in understanding that the facts
