Suspected in the mh370 mystery. will the two person in the cockpit rule that we re seeing take hold now in more airlines, will that help make flying safer or just help people perhaps feel safer? it may help in some cases, but there s diverging views within the industry. you know, you have a pilot go to the toilet, a flight attendant goes into the cockpit. the fact is that someone who is determined to crash an airplane, a trained pilot, a flight attendant may not be able to stop them in the end if the person puts the aircraft interest a steep dive. what will the flight attendant do? i don t think it would totally solve the problem in every case. we appreciate you joining us. tom ballentine, appreciate it. in other news, amanda knox says she is incredibly grateful ....
I find it unnerving in so many ways, but we relying on our cell phones and airlines and after 9/11 the heightened fear the sense of personal vulnerability is very real. steve, i kept hearing today that the u.s. regulation is if a pilot leaves the cockpit, somebody else has to be in so that the other pilot whether it s the pilot or co-pilot isn t alone in the cockpit. i can t tell you how many times i ve seen a pilot go to use the restroom and the other pilot is alone, abattendant doesn t go in. and if you had a suicidal, murderous pilot in the cockpit, they might well be able to overcome a flight attendant. so is this just another one of those things that we can t do anything about? i think george is fundamentally right. this is one of those unspeakably sad moments where we look for a solution and there may not be an obvious solution. it makes sense for the airlines to require there be two people in the cockpit, but that doesn t ....
