A bridge project that would temporarily close down part of Peach Lake Road (Route 121) next spring could prove “nightmarish” for commuters and pose problems for emergency vehicles, town officials said last week.
The span in question carries vehicles over a stream just north of Cottage Place, a small street leading into the Pietsch Gardens Cooperative. The stream’s waters flow into a stone-lined canal that dumps into the 256-acre Peach Lake, on whose shores are several housing cooperatives and homeowners associations.
The hamlet of Peach Lake straddles North Salem and the town of Southeast.
