Last spring, the state Department of Transportation set a weight limit of 16 tons, or 32,000 pounds, for the small, concrete span on Route 116. It carries traffic over the Titicus River and is located just west of Hilltop Drive near the New York-Connecticut state border.

Officials express concern over Peach Lake bridge project

April 4, 2021 at 8:59 AM A bridge project that would temporarily close down part of Peach Lake Road (Route 121) next spring could prove “nightmarish” for commuters and pose problems for emergency vehicles, town officials said last week. The span in question carries vehicles over a stream just north of Cottage Place, a small street leading into the Pietsch Gardens Cooperative. The stream’s waters flow into a stone-lined canal that dumps into the 256-acre Peach Lake, on whose shores are several housing cooperatives and homeowners associations. The hamlet of Peach Lake straddles North Salem and the town of Southeast. Sign Up for North Salem Newsletter
