Police Captain Emanuel Chambliss said on Twitter the shooting occurred in the 1400 block of Farmer Street near its intersection with Fairgrounds Road. At that time, police said the victim had suffered a non-life threatening injury, and there was no danger to the general public.

The Progress-Index PETERSBURG Police arrested a man they claim held a child out of a car window while being chased by officers earlier this month. Tavon Ford, 31, of Petersburg, was arrested without incident Wednesday by federal marshals. He faces a litany of charges, including child neglect, reckless driving, several traffic violations, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute it, and failure to appear in court in Henrico County. Police said the incident happened Feb. 6 on University Boulevard. According to reports, an officer attempted to stop Ford when he drove off and led them on a pursuit.

(WWBT) - Petersburg police are investigating at two locations where shots were fired on Tuesday. The first scene is in the 1800 block of Oakdale Avenue. Police found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers were also called to a second scene where a crash happened at Halifax Road and Baylors Lane. Police said shots were fired following the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 804-861-1212. @PBurgPolice @ two locations where gun violence occurred.
