Investigation begins into the death of a 23-year-old man after arrest

Belgium 10:01 12/01/2021 An investigation has been launched into the death of a 23-year-old Brussels man after a police intervention at the capital’s Gare du Nord on Saturday night. The young man, identified only by his first name Ibrahima in current reports, lost consciousness in police custody after being arrested at approximately 19.00 and died in hospital at 20.22. An autopsy and toxicology analysis were requested to establish the cause of his death. His family have been told that he died after suffering a cardiac arrest. His relatives have questioned the circumstances of his arrest and the cause of his death and have called for a demonstration in front of the police station where he was held this Wednesday.
