Summit County officials file conflict disclosure forms


New County Councilor Malena Stevens joined Glenn Wright in declaring no conflicts, while Roger Armstrong declared that he owns his own law firm and that his wife, Beth Armstrong, is the executive director of the People’s Health Clinic, which receives grants and office space from Summit County.
Councilors Doug Clyde and Chris Robinson reported more extensive potential conflicts, with Clyde’s centered around his career as a land planner and Robinson’s around his vast land holdings.
Clyde’s clients in Summit County include Village Development Group, which is the master developer of Silver Creek Village, and a separate developer looking to build 139 units there, CW Lands Company. ....

People’s Health Clinic on Tuesday announced a $1 million gift made by Park City resident Elizabeth “Beano” Solomon to create The John Hanrahan Medical Director Endowment for the Summit County nonprofit. The bequest is intended to build a cornerstone that will lead to additional community contributions to the endowment and ensure that the 21-year-old clinic is sustained far into the future. ....

Park City Community Foundation's COVID-19 Response Fund announces additional $500,000 in grants

Park City Community Foundation announced its latest round of grant recipients for its COVID-19 Community Response Fund last week. The $500,000 in assistance provided to area nonprofits is meant to help those impacted by the pandemic to stay in their homes, care for their children, seek medical care and more. ....

Community leaders, families and some Utah lawmakers are speaking out in support of two bills aimed at making health insurance more accessible to all Utah children.
Utah currently has one of the highest rates of uninsured children, with about 87,000 kids who aren’t covered. Organizations like the Utah Health Policy Project have been concerned about the continuously rising uninsured rate, particularly among Hispanic children. 2018 marked the 30th year row in which Utah had the highest rate of uninsured Latino children in the nation, at 90%.
SB158, sponsored by Sen. Luz Escamilla, D-Salt Lake City, would ensure that all Utah children whose family income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level would get access to Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), depending on their income bracket. ....
