Letters, Jan. 20-22: Don't lump all transplants to Park City together. Many of us have much to offer.

Give transplants a chance
I take exception to the recent letter (Jan. 16-19) titled “A mountain-sized farce” from Jeremy Ranch condemning all “transplants from California, Texas and the East Coast,” who are somehow responsible for the demise of small town life in Park City. My husband and I started skiing here in earnest in 1995, right after we married, introduced our children to wonderful winters here skiing and eventually were able to afford a (foreclosed) home here in 2010 with an eye towards retiring here. I obtained my medical license here five years ago, planning to work part time and volunteer at the People’s Health Clinic; a Spanish speaker, I currently work in California in a city with a diverse population and volunteer at our church’s food pantry, using Spanish in both, and helping uninsured people access medical care. When I retire, I have planned on volunteering more here in Park City, as did my husband (also a physician). Since 1995, we have shopped ....

Medical Reserve Corps Seeks Vaccine Volunteers

The Medical Reserve Corps in Summit County is seeking volunteers to help administer the COVID-19 vaccine. Help is needed from people both with and without medical certifications.

As the COVID-19 vaccine program continues in Utah, more staff will be needed in order to ensure a smooth process once the state receives more and more doses from the Federal Government.

The Medical Reserve Corps is not a new organization and is a list of volunteers who are willing to step up and help when they are needed. The COVID-19 pandemic is no exception.

Summit County's Medical Reserve Corps is seeking volunteers to help distribute the COVID-19 vaccine

There is a network of 40 or so volunteers in Summit County who have signed up to help their fellow citizens during times of emergency, a medical reserve corps made up of medical professionals and those without special training who decided to be of service when the community requires it.
With a mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign on the horizon, the program’s organizers are putting out a call for more volunteers to do everything from managing traffic to administering vaccines.

Pinebrook man is among first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Utah

Dr. Bert Lopansri receives a COVID-19 vaccine shot on Thursday, Dec. 17. Lopansri, an infectious disease specialist, is one of the first Summit County residents to receive a vaccine. He said the vaccine is the first step in a new phase of the pandemic, but cautioned people to continue to follow health guidelines, and said that every COVID-19 death is preventable.
