How the process works
Rumans and her husband, Richard, have lived in Emil-Marr for 42 years. The subdivision, which is 45 years old, is just east of Pearl Britain Plaza and generally runs from Northeast 22nd Avenue to Northeast 25th Avenue between Northeast 36th and 38th Streets.
Alan Jones, Marion County director of MSTU (municipal service taxing unit) assessments, explained that there are two ways to initiate MSTU subdivision paving projects like the one now underway in Emil-Marr: A property owner can initiate the MSTU-administered process, which involves a petition and requires 51% positive votes from responding owners; or the county itself can move forward if a subdivision s roads are in bad enough shape.
Publix is working with Florida governor for more vaccines
A Publix spokeswoman said on Monday that the store s online reservation system will continue to be the only way to register for COVID-19 vaccinations once the grocery store chain receives a new shipment of vaccines and can reopen its portal.
Maria Brous, director of communications for Publix, said in an email that her company took every precaution possible with our online reservation system to avoid panic and provide a pleasant experience for our customers. While all available appointments have been reserved, our website does encourage customers to check back daily for updates, as appointments may become available, Brous wrote. The address is publix.com/covid-vaccine.
“It’s our privilege to work with Governor DeSantis as a distributor of this important vaccine,” Publix Vice President of Pharmacy Dain Rusk said in the release. “We look forward to a time when everyone who wants a vaccination is able to receive one.”
Florida Department of Health in Marion County officials said that DeSantis did not inform the agency that he would be in town. The governor held a news conference at the Canopy Oaks Publix on State Road 200 at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
News Channel 8 from Tampa Bay posted a Facebook live of the 15-minute press conference on Tuesday.
