Flash flood watches still in effect after storm slams region [San Francisco Chronicle]
Jan. 28 The storm system that tore through Northern California overnight Tuesday left downed trees, flooded roads and power outages in its wake along with potentially life-threatening landslides in Monterey County.
The Bay Area escaped the brunt of the strong winds that accompanied Tuesday’s rains primarily damage from fallen tree limbs and downed power lines. Tens of thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers in the Bay Area woke up without power Wednesday morning, the utility reported with the highest proportion in the East Bay and South Bay. By 10 a.m., 15,647 were still without power.
