India Business News: The elections did not increase diesel consumption significantly, but they did increase the demand for petrol, jet fuel, and cooking gas in April. The
India s peak power demand is expected to surpass 400 GW by 2030, prompting the government to establish additional generation capacity, according to Union Power Minister R K Singh. Singh emphasised the importance of electricity for development and stated that the country s power shortage has been reduced to less than 1%. He also highlighted the significant growth in renewable energy capacity, with plans to reach 500 GW by 2030.
The minister said 27,180 MW of thermal capacity is under construction, 12,000 MW has been bid out and 19,000 MW is under clearances. The total anticipated thermal capacity addition by 2031-2032 will be 87,910 MW.
