Alan Cartwright, 62, a financial director who said he had never read Charles Dickens books, may have stumbled across the real-life inspiration for one of the author s most memorable characters.
Fundraiser Deborah Percy in Bonchurch, and the beachside defibrillator. GENEROUS donations from Bonchurch residents will go towards the installation of vital defibrillators on all four geographical tiers of the village. New life-saving equipment will be fitted at Leeson Road at the top of Bonchurch Shute, halfway up the Shute at the Bonchurch Inn, and outside the garage opposite the village pond. One defibrillator has already been installed at the beach. Fundraiser Deborah Percy has been instrumental in organising the project. She is now appealing for a final push to get the defibrillators funded and installed. Each costs £565, and donations large or small are welcomed.
