Fundraiser Deborah Percy in Bonchurch, and the beachside defibrillator. GENEROUS donations from Bonchurch residents will go towards the installation of vital defibrillators on all four geographical tiers of the village. New life-saving equipment will be fitted at Leeson Road at the top of Bonchurch Shute, halfway up the Shute at the Bonchurch Inn, and outside the garage opposite the village pond. One defibrillator has already been installed at the beach. Fundraiser Deborah Percy has been instrumental in organising the project. She is now appealing for a final push to get the defibrillators funded and installed. Each costs £565, and donations large or small are welcomed.

Adversity in the face of Covid-19 has united businesses in Portlaoise with a surge in firms joining the Downtown Portlaoise traders group as the Laois town gets back in business after lockdown.
But the group wants as many companies on board as possible to help drive the town s success. So much so that its Chairperson PJ Kavanagh has, on behalf of the committee, invited companies that are not in yet to join as new associate members. With retail and hospitality set to reopen after months of lockdown, we at Downtown Portlaoise have been blown away by the level of support we have received in the past few weeks, he said.

The speakers are Ethel Changa who is a mental health specialist nurse and an England National Health Service (NHS) nurse advisor originally from Zimbabwe and a Malawian Lorraine Sunduza a chief nurse in London and also a mental health specialist.
Another specialist is Briton David Perrin of Jamaican origin who is a Reverend and mentor to be joined by a chaplain and MUNA executive treasurer Joyce Mbwana who is public health specialist practitioner.

As a locally-based charity that endeavours to help young, disadvantaged or disabled people to experience the thrills of sailing and watersports can I suggest that The Chesil Sailing Trust might be an appropriate charity to support with such a donation?
