City and NPCS agree to 90 day cooling off period


“The City and the Society have agreed to a 90-day cooling-off period. Following this cooling-off period, the
City and Society have agreed to meet, using a neutral third party, to further discuss the future of the North
Peace Cultural Centre and mutually agreed-upon outcomes. During this time period and any subsequent
transitional periods, all facility user bookings and rentals will be honoured. We look forward to working
together to further the arts and cultural fabric of our community.”
According to a release, as a term of the cooling-off period, no further statements will be issued.
The City announced on June 15th it would assume control of the North Peace Cultural Centre, ending its relationship with the North Peace Cultural Society. ....

New art exhibit highlighting city buidlings

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The newest exhibit at the Peace Gallery North, Urban Insights, displays interesting takes on Fort St. John’s urban features.
With so much beauty to be experienced outside the city limits, it’s common to look past the urban centre for inspiration, but this exhibit takes an artistic look at buildings in Fort St. John.

Curator Richard Bell says there are plenty of historical buildings and structures just off the beaten path.
“There are quite a few buildings here that are very iconic. I can’t see the Lido and picture some of this artwork now,” says Bell. “The new fire hall with its really interesting architecture, the apartment building beside it with the wonderful rectangles of colour. There’s a surprisingly large amount of interesting structures in town. You just have to find them.” ....
