Of us. Hes not conservative enough for us. Conservatives sayin say this whh obviously is a front group, but when you saw, and this is different but tells you an example of how this is can work effectively, you saw Senate Democrat effectively nominate a [inaudible] lowder, rick. [inaudible] in indiana, yet. Missouri i mean. Todd akin, thank you. This is where the sleep deprivation is ticking and. Remember, they ran tv ads, somebody, i dont know who, todd akin is too conservative for missouri. In the republican primary, throw me in that briar patch and they move the nomination from the two republicans that might very well be Claire Mccaskill enfolded over here where they affected the outcome of the primary. But that shows how sometimes parties can be very, very effective in doing some interesting little jujitsu things. Thats a i would say look, chances are, shes got an uphil ....
Well, maybe we will stay away from this. And mcconnell, i do know some specifics of people who publicly theyre saying, he will not be for mcconnell and i know privately that they have had the conversation and now there with mcconnell. And crews will look around and there will not be that many people with him. Mcconnell can deal with this. We are couple of minutes away from the audience to q and a section. There are microphones that you cant stand that if you want to line up. So, a couple of more minutes of conversation and then we will go to the q a. One more question i had, we can talk briefly about health care and if it will get repealed. Do you think it is possible that the parties will agree on some smaller part of the Affordable Care act that might get fixed or repealed . Puts people like paul ryan recognize that it is probably not good to have the 59th vote to repeal obamacare in the opening session. Most people feel that t ....
You are absolutely right. Five times since the end of world war ii a party has had the white house for two consecutive terms. President reagans Approval Ratings back in 1988 were very good. Democrats in their infinite wisdom nominated michael dukakis, and the rest is history. For 2016, there are couple of things we dont know. History argues that republicans ought to win the presidency in 2016. But the big question is, will they have repaired their brand . Will they have repaired some their problems with minority voters, young voters, women voters, selfdescribed moderate voters . I would argue that some of those groups just basically stayed home. It will be interesting to watch to see whether latino turnout dropped disproportionally, for example, being upset that immigration hasnt gone through and all that. So if republicans address their brand challenges, it will obviously make a difference. Obviously also whoever the republican ....
First of all, lets not make too much of this. A majority of the people who vote yesterday were female. It was 5149. But it was less than we a point or so less, but it wasnt like there was a huge shift in the gender balance in the electorate that voted yesterday. Women have a tendency to place a higher priority on issues like education and health care and i think any politicians, republican or democrat who hopes to appeal to women has got to have something intelligent to say about both of those issues. We dont have as many people as we need to be able to articulate a position on education. Its not coincidence that the last republican president was very, very good and talked a lot about education. Lamar alexander talks a lot about education. We dont have as many as we need to paint a compelling picture. Good point. By the way, i would say the last two republican president s good point. George bush senior we may disagree with their policies but they articulated strongly on education. And ....
Drops disproportionately, for have le so, it is republicans address their brand challenges will obviously make a difference on top of whoever the republican nominee is going to be. The other hand, though, what kind of shape as the democratic brand . That is where i would love to is president obamas job with Approval Ratings in the summer and fall of 2016. The Affordable Care to you know, is a culture even up closer to even up rather than upside down. And third, what is the economy looking like . Not just that, but how do the people feel the economy is doing . Speaking, technically one example for a lot of people, as far as theyre concerned, their personal far as theyre concerned, their personal economy has now turned around. So all of these things are sort of establishing what shape the democratic brand is in. So, it is a great point and it is one that we will enjoy chewin ....
