Our other top story tonight, two San Jose Police officers are recovering from gunshot wounds after a shootout inside a san jose motel. One of those officers remains in critical but stable condition tonight. Police believe the two officers actions saved the lives of a woman and three children. And we do have Team Coverage tonight. Fairfield for almost two hours. Officers are in a standoff with the driver whom they believe is still armed. Theyre planning their moves carefully. Our chopper watched the chase earlier this afternoon down 580 on the richmondsan rafael bridge with several cop cars on the tail of this silver toyota corolla. It was never going terribly over the speed limit, topping around 70 miles an hour driving through the north bay, eventually moving east. The driver avoided spike strips after several attempts by officers to stop that vehicle as it went from petaluma to oakland. The corolla bobbed and weaved through traffic until it finally stopped in fairfield near 680 by the Cordelia Junction. That is when officers lined up a few yards from the car and that is where we are now with all eastbound lanes closed. In Solano County. Right now, both directions of highway 80 in fairfield are back open after an hours long standoff between Law Enforcement and an armed suspect. Standoff lasted for more than two hours before the chp says the gunman was taken to the hospital for a selfinflicted gunshot wound. It all started around 11 00 this morning, chp tells us. This all stemmed from a reported shooting on highway 101 in santa rosa. This morning. Officers tracked the suspect vehicle to a Shopping Center in rohnert park, which led to the pursuit about 330 this afternoon, he stopped near the i80 680 interchange in fairfield.
