patrol is mourning the loss of one of their own. good evening, i am cristina rendon. good evening, i am alex savidge. this happened on southbound 88 zero, 880, the officer was working to keep the road safe when his patrol car was hit at high speed. we know that that driver left a holiday party before he got behind the wheel and the officer leaves behind a wife and three children. joining us live from oakland. here is henry. reporter: the body is now here at the coroner s office. he was killed by a motorist who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. the same type of driver that he and his partner were trying to stop. today is a tragic loss of one of our own. reporter: they were parked in their patrol vehicle on southbound 880 and they were rear ended by our red cadillac. there was an officer hit southbound 880. officer down. reporter: the 22-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. it is irresponsible and senseless in these act

think it s a total loss and after quick action of members of the wildwood crest community this would be a loss of life as well. the complete front of the apartment was engulfed in flames. that is corporal neil webb, they were the first on the scene and people were trapped inside and they had to split up. there was an elderly lady trapped and as i went upstairs the door was locked and i was able to kick the door in and the room was full of smoke. but he got her and her door out safely and webb got a couple and their daughter out. and a man and two children a boy and girl were trapped on this balcony. the flames were coming out so bad it was pushing them to the edge of the balcony. i saw coramral we have been come flying across the come across the street and something didn t look right. that balcony was high up and there was no time to waste those kid his to be dropped. and the little girl came straight down and he bear hugged her. they and two good samaritans
