nbc 10 s lu ann cahn live at m samu samuelfeld high school. reporter: one student has been arrested, a number of others are being question. the school has been on lockdown for hours. the 18-year-old says an 18-year-old says his friend was waving a gun around in class. it made him nervous. he took a picture, he told the school. he wanted to scare people. reporter: that s why he brought it, wanted to scare people. had a beef with people. reporter: are you the one that took a picture of it. yes. reporter: he was released by police this afternoon, one of several feld s high school students taken into custody. we recovered a gun in a trash can inside the school. we have one 18-year-old male in custody who possessed the gun. the school was put on lockdown this morning. a s.w.a.t. team searched lockers and classrooms looking for the students and the gun. she called me from somebody s phone. she sounded nervous and scared. she said, mom, there s a gunman in the ch
nefertiti jaquez is joining us live from the scene. reporter: the victim s loved once who have set up this memorial right here behind me say they re having a difficult time talking about her in the past tense. now her family and friends are demanding that the school district do more to protect their students. i can t even describe it. there s no words. i ve never felt this way. reporter: loved ones couldn t describe their heartache, but you could see the raw emotions on their faces. her mother included. i guess i wish i could have said good-bye. reporter: family members, friends and classmates gathered at the spot where 16-year-old minete zeka lost her life. an 18-year-old driving this suv hit and killed her as she crossed bensalem boulevard to board her bus just before sunrise. i would definitely say this should not be a bus stop because it s not in a good place at all. reporter: the victim s best friend said minete saved her life at this busy intersection a co
reporter: they are working with the fbi. delaware state police tell us they re increasing patrol up and down the enter sat. this is just standard precaution for something that might or might not have been a potential problem. absolutely could be just a coincidence but we don t to want take that risk. reporter: headquarters of the national guard in delaware. this isn t the gate it specifically happened at. it was an air guard gate. i m told it wasn t the same car going up to the gates. i m told the security officers did not get tag numbers. guard and law enforcement officials will go back to surveillance video and compare stories to where people needed direction to. it is possible, it is possible, this was just a big coincidence and a lot of people were lost going to some event. maybe it s possible they all really did need directions. as we ve said a couple times here guard leaders tell me they re not taking any chances. live in new castle tim furlong, nbc10 news. ov
