CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson student-athletes Hal Hershfelt (women's soccer, psychology) and Mckenna Slavik (volleyball, sports communication) have been named 2023 Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Award recipients, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Friday.Hershfelt and Slavik both captain their respective teams, seeing success on the field and on the court. In addition, KJ Henry (football, sports communication/athletic leadership) has been named an honorary scholarship nominee and intends to enter the NFL Draft.A total of 54 individuals in the conference were honored with 39 receiving the Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford scholarship. Hershfelt is just one of three women's soccer recipients while Slavik is one of five volleyball awardees. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Three Florida State student-athletes have been selected as 2022 Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Award recipients. Izaak Bastian (Men’s swimming and diving), Gabby Carle (women’s soccer) and Kelechi Nwanaga (Women’s track & Field) were among the 54 representatives on the list. Jenna Johnson (beach volleyball) was named an honorary recipient. The Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford and Jim and Pat Thacker postgraduate scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $6,000 toward his or her graduate education. Those honored have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sport, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community. It seems when we all want to do that last minute shopping, the weather is more like stay at home weather, which with Covid going around, is so fitting. However, there appears to be a few days of drier weather before the rain returns, which could mean some freezing, so let s hope folks don t get caught off guard by the dryness and forget about the possibility of some frozen patches of highway here and there. ....
