janelle burrell is life in new- - is live in newdorf to explain. reporter: two have been working together, and one of the incidents happened here with the two men approaching a woman. they stole her purse. the first incident was sunday, july 12th around 2:00 that morning. the suspects approached two men in their 20s walking up to the corner store. it was in a chevy malibu. they identified themselves as police, flashed guns, and searched them they stole $300 from them, and then they drove off. later that night, the two approached a woman and stole her purse, and they said a good samaritan tried to step in and help, and that s when the second suspect tried to be a good samaritan himself, interfering, allowing both men to get away. then they robbed a teenager. police are looking for the sketch of the man we showed you earlier. all we know is the two men got away in the heavy mal boot. anyone with any information, you re urged to contact the nymd. janelle burrell, cbs 2 ....
you tried t go inside die. kicked the door down. but there was a lot of smoke. reporter: he said he went around back and the windows exploded. fire officials said the victims were surrounded by clutter and debris that made them saving very difficult. the house was v y cluttered extremely on that first floor where fi was. so it hampered the first two its trying to make a push to knock down fire. reporter: firefighters did get the fire under control relatively quickly but the fire marshal is taking a close look. that much fire in the middle of the day is unusual. it s something you see later in the evening when people are asleep not in the middle of the day when people are out and about. that s why the fire marshal is taking everything into consideration. reporter: officials still don t know the cause of the fire. they think it might have started in the tchen, where the victims were found inches from one another. their identities have not been released. city ....

police said just before 11:00 last night a taxi cab slammed in front of a parked car. gunfire may have been involved, and this is a very quiet, residential block, and at this point it s not clear what the motive may have been, but the prosecutor s office right now investigating the case saying they will bin vest gaiting more today. janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. the search for a missing fishing boat is expected to resume this morning. yesterday helicopters and dive teams with the coast guard spent hours searching for the 40-foot fishing boat. the captain of another boat reported seeing the vessel sinking, and rescuers found a life ring and a cooler and floating oil in the area. no one has been reported missing, and they don t know if anyone was on board at the time. john? reporter: thank you, mary. hi, everybody. refreshing weather out the door, and a great day in store for you with humidity and nice numbers. if this is the beginning of your staycation this is a day ....
the growing memorial behind me is proof of that. many here in southwest virginia were tuned in for what was supposed to be a live feel good story. it turned into anything but. a memorial of flowers and balloons grew overnight outside wdbj tv in roanoke, virginia. the station still can t believe two beloved colleagues are gone. all day the community has provided an outpouring just of support for us. reporter: reporter alison parker and photographer adam ward were ambushed and killed live on the air wednesday morning. [ sound of gunfire ] by a disgruntled former employee of their station. i m going to have reporter: that employee was a fellow journalist. vester flanagan. he went by the name bryce williams while reporting for the station. the 41-year-old was let go two years ago and andy parker says his daughter died doing what she loved. it s hard to get your arms arnold it and around it ask realize or try and make sense of why it happened. reporter: bef ....
