The program originally began in 2020 as the pandemic gripped the world. At the time, a local hotel that had an excess of frozen scrambled eggs donated them to the Community Kitchen to the Community Kitchen, according to information provided by Alistair MacDonald, who has been part of the program since its inception. Jim Webb, pastor of the Presbyterian church who also had catering experience, offered to help the kitchen out and gather church volunteers to use the eggs to make burritos at the church that they would then donate back to the kitchen to serve.
