New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): The Centre on Friday decided to facilitate faster imports of key medical devices by relaxing the conditions for clearances under Legal Metrology (Packaging Rules 2011).
Considering the present pandemic situation of COVID-19 and for meeting the demand of medical devices, the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Government of India has permitted the importers of medical devices to import medical devices for three months from April 28 onwards, the government said in a statement.
The importers are subject to the condition that the importers shall make all declarations required under these rules immediately after import/custom clearance and before sale by way of stamping or putting sticker or online printing, as the case may be. ....

Govt waives basic customs duty, health cess on import of oxygen & related equipment
New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Centre on Saturday decided to grant full exemption from basic customs duty and health cess on the import of Oxygen and related equipment for three months with immediate effect.
It was also decided that basic customs duty on import of Covid vaccines be also exempted with immediate effect for 3 months.
These decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review steps taken to boost oxygen availability in the country, the Ministry of Finance said.
This will boost the availability of these items as well as make them cheaper, the Ministry said in a statement. ....

No customs duty on imported vaccines for 3 months
In a booster dose for improving supply of medical oxygen in the country, which has been hit hard by the ongoing Covid-19 second wave, the Modi-led government on Saturday gave customs duty as well as health cess exemption for three months to imports of medical oxygen and slew of medical equipments related to production of oxygen. It also granted basic customs duty exemption on Covid-19 vaccines with immediate effect for three months.
These latest measures, which were taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to boost availability of medical oxygen and Covid-19 vaccines as well as make them cheaper. ....
