The number of Idahoans hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped again to 252 on Wednesday the fewest people hospitalized since Oct. 20. There were 67 people hospitalized in intensive care units Wednesday, the last day the data was available.
The state s seven-day case average also dropped to October levels at 615.1. Health and Welfare and the state s seven health districts reported 428 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 149 probable cases Friday, for a total count of 577 new cases.

Jan. 16 Despite news that states won t be receiving a promised release of second vaccine doses, Idaho health officials said the state will start receiving a slight increase in the overall number of doses from the federal government next week.
Idaho will begin receiving about 950 extra doses starting next week, state health officials said, for a total of 20,950 doses each week for the forseeable future. That s about a 2%-5% increase. Along with other states, Idaho is requesting more accurate, timely, and forward-looking estimates of doses Idaho will receive from the federal government, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare spokesperson Niki Forbing-Orr wrote in a Friday email statement. Ada and Kootenai counties accounted for more than half of Idahoâs new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
The Gem State reported 855 new confirmed cases and 312 new probable cases for a total 1,167 cases, according to state and public health district data.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare added 349 new cases of COVID-19 to Ada Countyâs tally, bringing the countyâs total to 31,485 overall. However, the countyâs true caseload is still unclear as Boise-based Central District Health works through a significant backlog of cases. CDH estimates the 14-day average incidence rate in Ada dropped from 85 to 67 cases per 100,000 residents last week.

Idaho hospitals report record COVID-19 cases in ICUs as state begins vaccinations

As Idaho races to vaccinate health care workers, hospitals reported a record number of COVID-19 patients requiring intensive care this week.
A total of 120 COVID-19 patients were in ICUs across the state Tuesday, according to updated data the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported Friday. That number decreased to 118 patients on Wednesday, the last day data from the state was available.
There were 467 Idahoans hospitalized with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 on Wednesday. That number has fluctuated between 445 and 496 since Nov. 28.
At least 944 Idahoans had received the COVID-19 vaccination as of Friday, according to Health and Welfare.
