My father s dementia led to a hit record and a million pounds for charity
A new charity fund named in honour of dementia patient Paul Harvey will help many others to use music to cope with their condition

On Friday 17 September last year, Nick Harvey and his father Paul, a former composer and music teacher, sat down at the piano.
It had been a hard day for Paul, 81, who has dementia, and Nick, in hopes of raising his father s spirits, remembered an old family party trick , in which he would improvise a two-minute piece of music made from just four notes of another person s choosing.
