On Friday 17 September last year, Nick Harvey and his father Paul, a former composer and music teacher, sat down at the piano.
It had been a hard day for Paul, 81, who has dementia, and Nick, in hopes of raising his father s spirits, remembered an old family party trick , in which he would improvise a two-minute piece of music made from just four notes of another person s choosing.
