The US labor market is softening, but still remains tight and that should keep the door open for policymakers to raise rates again at the May 3rd policy meeting. The focus now shifts to whether disinflation trends can get back on track. The March inflation report is expected to show a slower monthly pace of 0.2%, down from 0.4%, while headline inflation reading is expected at 5.2% year on year, down from February’s 6.0%. The March Retail Sales report is also expected to show another soft month of spending.

On Thursday, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city aims to fully reopen on July 1, allowing businesses, including restaurants, stores and nightclubs, to operate at full capacity.

Although Orthodox Easter isn’t until May 2, that didn’t stop members of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Philoptochos from playing Easter Bunny to children at the Weirton Christian Center and the girls at Brooke Place, Family Connections with nearly 500 eggs distributed between the locations. As part of its spring fundraiser, “You’ve Been Egged,” the All Saints parishioners were able to “egg” individuals or families living in Weirton. Orders have been completed and will be distributed through April 30, Orthodox Good Friday.
