Gold Coast man hunt: Police stations shut down after threats from wanted man

Mark Lutgenau appeared in Southport Magistrates Court in hospital gown today with a bandaged arm after being bitten by a police dog during his arrest yesterday.
He is facing sixteen charges including assaults occasioning actual bodily harm, threatening violence and willful damage.
Mr Lutgenau is accused of pouring fuel at the home of his partner on Tuesday and making threats, which ultimately led to the suburb of Pimpama and nearby Ormeau State School being put into lockdown.

He has been taken into custody after being arrested near Nerang, police say.
Police say Lutengau was arrested without incident.
It followed a massive manhunt involving the elite Special Emergency Response Team and Polair.
It comes as parents of students at Ormeau State School take to Facebook to describe the stress experienced by their children as the campus was locked down.
Ormeau State School parents have taken to Facebook to call for Lutgenau to surrender, saying the lockdown on Tuesday caused terror and stress for them and their children.

The man at the centre of Tuesday s six-hour emergency declaration on the Gold Coast has been arrested by police.
Mark Lutgenau, 37, was bitten on the arm by a police dog during his arrest at Baloo Street in Nerang, shortly after 4:00pm on Wednesday.
Another emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act for the local area during the arrest.
Mr Lutgenau was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital and remains there under police guard. ....

A fugitive gunman wanted over an alleged domestic violence incident has been arrested after a 30-hour manhunt across the Gold Coast.
Mark Lutgenau was taken into custody by Special Emergency Response Team officers at a Nerang address about 4.15pm on Wednesday.
He was bitten on the forearm during the arrest and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains under police guard.
After receiving treatment, Lutgenau will be taken to a police station for questioning, where charges are expected to be laid over a string of incidents. ....
