Onset Firefighters quickly knock down Liquor Locker fire, though inventory takes a hit Wicked Local WAREHAM – Onset Firefighters were able to bring a fire at Liquor Locker, 3021 Cranberry Highway, under control within 45 minutes early Friday morning, April 2, though there was a significant loss of stock. Firefighters said that at approximately 11:51 p.m. Thursday, April 1, the Onset Fire Dept. received notification from Wareham Police that they had received a security alarm for 3021 Cranberry Highway, The Liquor Locker, and that officers arrived to find what appeared to be a smoke condition inside the business. The store was closed at the time of the incident. A first alarm assignment was dispatched summoning all department personnel, including Deputy Fire Chief Howard L. Andersen and acting Chief Jeffrey R. Osswald. ....
Onset Firefighters quickly knock down house fire Wicked Local ONSET – Onset Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire on the rear exterior wall of a residence at 6 Pearl Ave. Sunday afternoon and reminded residents to dispose of ash away from the home. Onset Fire reported receiving multiple emergency telephone reports of a structure fire at 6 Pearl Ave. at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24. According to an OFD Facebook post, “The first arriving unit on scene had fire on a rear facing exterior wall. A garden hose was used by the occupant to keep the fire in check while fire department members responded and could complete extinguishment. ....
Hundreds of first responders - including Wareham and Onset Firefighters, Wareham Police, and Wareham EMS - have received the first round of the covid vaccine, thanks to a clinic at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center in Marion. The drive-through clinic, held on Jan. 13 and 14, was the first major rollout of the vaccine in the Tri-Town. “We didn’t have control over this and we’ve finally turned the corner and now we’re going on the offensive,” said Marion Police Chief Richard Nighelli. When first responders arrived at the clinic, their IDs were verified with names on a list before they drove under a large tent to receive the vaccine, administered by paramedics from Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham. ....
