you are live in the cnn newsroom. i m jim acosta in washington. good evening. we re only one year out from election day, and already there are warning signs for president biden in his bid for re-election. a new set of polls from the new york times and sienna college show biden trailing former president donald trump in hypothetical matchups in four key swing states. you see them there on-screen. trump appears to have an edge in nevada, georgia, arizona, and michigan, all critical states that could hand the election to the former president. but legal problems continue to pile up for donald trump. tomorrow he is expected to have to answer to some of these serious allegations of fraud that he s facing. he s set to take the stand in new york for a civil trial that could determine the fate of his business in that state. so one year from election day, how worried should the white house be about these low poll numbers for joe biden at this stage of the campaign? cnn s senior data

and it set in hard. there were only 80,000 jobs added in this country in june, and the 8.2% unemployment rate didn t budge. yep. the stock market plunged, politicians and analysts alike sounded like they were on the edge of a cliff. there s a lot of misery in america today. and these numbers understate what people are feeling, and the amount of pain which is occurring in middle class america. peter buickvar equity strategist tells outfront the jobs numbers are quote, pathetic. chief u.s. economist says another month, another sub par employment report. mitt romney had it right. there is a lot of pain in a lot places, but does all the doom and glood at up? yes, the jobs numbers weren t great, but this is a glass we re choosing to see a little bit more half full. and most americans agree with us. a new cnn poll shows 60% of people are optimistic and think economic conditions next year will be good. one reason for this is housing. it s a little ironic, perhaps, because th
women who sacrificed so much in war zones, not one dime. because of drew s reporting, the senate finance committee is demanding answers from the dvnf. more on that tonight. drew also uncovered yet another veterans charity called the national veterans foundation, which is taking donations, but using only a very small percentage to actually help vets. there are also charities that claim to help abandoned animals but the money trail leads somewhere else. baghdad pups, as far as we can tell, they don t do that at all. the montreal spca, canadian charity that helps abandoned cats and dogged received $13 million in donations over three years, but they ended up in the hole more than $4.5 million. now, all of these charities have one thing in common. they all have connections to a fund-raising company called quadriga art. they get paid to build mailing lists for the charity groups and that s where the money trail took drew. following the trail was one thing, getting answers was anoth
