May 25, 1901-J. Howard and Ed Bergen have formed a partnership in Grand Rapids and have entered into the real estate business.
May 25, 1901-Sol Williams, who owns a homestead on the Vermillion, reported to Sheriff Tyndall and gave himself up stating that he had shot and probably killed Jim Morris in Cass County. He claims self-defense.
May 25, 1901-Frank F. Price, Grand Rapids attorney, has taken George H. Spear of Brainerd on as a partner.

May 24, 1911-The new settler often makes a mistake by bringing in too much stock, more stock than the farm will provide rough feed for, which proves unprofitable.

May 18, 1901-It appears that within a few months Grand Rapids will have telephone connections with the towns to the east and west.
May 18, 1901-It is predicted that the birth of two or three more fair-sized counties in northern Minnesota will occur within the next four years.
May 18, 1901-John T. Jones of Pittsburgh, Pa., arrived in the area. He and associates have taken lease of the old, long-abandoned Buckeye Mine situated about 12 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.

May 17, 1911-The state land sale conducted from the courthouse steps was one of the best that has ever been conducted in the county, and the average price per acre paid was the highest ever received at a sale of Minnesota state lands. A total of 3,000 acres were disposed of for an average price of $12 per acre.

April 19, 1911-The St. Paul Mine in Keewatin opened; the Roberts and Platt mines in Nashwauk also opened for the season.
April 19, 1911-There has been a great influx of settlers to Itasca County this spring and the number is steadily increasing, particularly, Grand Rapids has received many who have purchased lands and who have settled in the immediate vicinity.

April 20, 1921-Good progress is being made for improved highway construction in Itasca County. Clearing was started on the Blackberry to Warba route.
April 20, 1921-A recount for the mayorship of Keewatin ended in a tie vote. The issue will be settled in court. The two candidates are Dr. A.C. Kean and George Matakovich.
