1st Tokhu Women's volleyball trophy 2022

Our Reporter Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The first Tokhu women’s volleyball trophy 2022 kicked off on Friday at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex (MDSC), DC court junction, Dimapur. The tournament is organised by the Lotha Youth Organisation Dimapur (LYOD) with the theme ‘Gender equality in sports.’ LYOD president Nzanbemo Humtsoe said the central idea behind organising the tournament was to create a platform for unity and gender equality in sports. On the importance of sports, he said sports can bring people together in ways no other activities can. Not only can sports bring whole communities and countries together, they can also connect people on a personal level, Humtsoe said. “Women should be given a chance to show their talent through sports as they have never been given a chance. Chümoukedima electrical division to undertake disconnection drive; villages in five districts to be affected

Dimapur, Oct. 11 (EMN): Power department under Chümoukedima electrical division has decided to carry out routine disconnection drive for all categories of consumers from October 20 without further notice. In this regard, the executive engineer of Chümoukedima electrical division,  Ahoto Aye, has directed all villages and towns under Chümoukedima electrical division to clear the outstanding arrears before the stipulated date. Nagaland: Homes, farms flooded after heavy rain

Scattered rainfall likely in next few days Our Reporter/CorrespondentDimapur/Wokha, Sep.13 (EMN): Dimapur town once again experienced flooding owing to unprecedented rainfall in the last two days. Some areas reported flooding mostly due to clogged drains, poor drainage system and land encroachment. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe, who is also the CEO of District Disaster Management Authority, told Eastern Mirror that due to the unexpected high amount of rainfall, flood-like situation was reported at SM colony, Riverbelt colony, Ragailong Colony, Namgalong Colony and its surrounding areas. The ADC stated that houses were even submerged in water because of blocked drains. The Assam Rifles personnel, she said, evacuated the families affected by the flood. The property damaged by the flood will be assessed after the water subsides fully, she added.
