Partners for yet another of what i know will be a compelling presentation. These guys are money. As many of you know. We are so fortunate and privileged to be associated with them. Tonight we welcome our two guests. They had me in grade school. I was a fourthgrader when hollywood released the great escape starring james Steve Mcqueen and james garner and charles bronson, among others. All of the guys in my class fell in love with it. All of us wanted to be mcqueen. He survives. The movie was based on a true story. The escape of 76 allied soldiers escape from germany in 1944. The film pretty much gave us the real life tragic ending to that story, only three of those men who escaped state escaped. Two norwegian pilots, and another pilot from the netherlands. No americans. The other 73 were killed or recaptured, more than two thirds of them were executed. The fact is, escaping was hard. And it wasnt often try during world war ii in particular. When it was, it often didnt succeed. When it
Thanks so much for joining us tonight and thanks to the u. S. Army command and general Staff College. One of our longest, one of our best, one of our favorite programming partners for yet another what i know will be a compelling presentation. These guys are money, as many of you know, and were so fortunate and privileged to be associated with them. Tonight, we welcome david mills of the command general Staff College and kayla westra of the Minnesota West Community and technical college, the coauthors of great wartime escapes and rescues. Ill start by saying they had me in grade school. I was a fourth grader i think when hollywood released the great escape, the classic adventure drama staring Steve Mcqueen, james garner, charles bronson, among others. It pretty quickly became a tv staple, and all of the guys in my class at st. Josephs Elementary School in martingsburg, missouri, fell in love with it and we would play it out at recess. Each one of us would take one of the roles. Of cours

Each one of us would take one of the roles. Of course all of us wanted to be mcqueen. I think i wound up with the attenborough role which is fine by me, though, i get executed at the end of the movie. Of course mcqueen survives. What we didnt realize then and what we probably didnt care about was that the movie was based on a true story, the escape of 76 allied soldiers and officers from ger
In that direction but the mayor of san jose says no. We are joined now in san jose with the very latest. Damian. Reporter i should mention that a couple of hours ago San Jose Police announced new restrictions on police use of the socalled rubber bullets. Right now the protesters at city hall are marching through downtown and they will be back shortly. The demand is simple, defund and reform. A call for reform at a local department is now answering the call. The San Jose Police Department Just beened the use of rubber projectiles for the sole purpose of dispersing crowds and now can only use them when an officer is being attacked or there is an imminent threat to officers or protesters themselves. I absolutely think we need to do something overall. From the communities around the country and every Police Department in the country should be thinking about reform. There is one demand the mayor said is a nonstarter, the growing call to defund Police Departments. In San Francisco the mayor
