All persons are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law. Friday, April 23 8:02 a.m.: A trash bag was reported causing a hazard in the roadway at Parker Street and Old Marlboro Road. 11:47 a.m.: A caller reported someone riding a dirt bike on the rail trail in the area of Main Street. An officer located the youth in the area of Maynard Pizza House and confirmed it was a child on an electric bike with his father. No other issues were found.

Mosquito Control Project to spray larvicide over Maynard wetlands

Courtesy of Brian Farless, Superintendent The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be conducting a helicopter application of the biological larvicide, Bti, to control mosquito larvae over large wetland areas in Maynard, between April 19 and April 30.  Wetlands currently being evaluated for this application are located near George Road,  Old Marlboro Road and Rockland Avenue.    The Bti will be applied in a granular formulation by a helicopter flying low directly over the wetlands.   Residents do not need to take any special precautions for this application. The material to be applied Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis) is a natural bacterium found in soil. The EPA classifies Bti as a relatively non-toxic pesticide.  Bti is considered a target selective and environmentally compatible pesticide that affects mosquito larvae and a few closely related aquatic insects in the fly family.  Once applied Bti stays suspended in water for 24 to 48 hours and then biod
