The rolling green mounds of Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids, Mich., glimmered red on Friday, May 03, as hundreds of tribal citizens, leaders and allies gathered to demand justice for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) crisis. The gathering, organized by the state's MMIP task force, was one of hundreds that took place around Indian Country for National MMIP Awareness Day, proclaimed by President Joe Biden as Sunday, May 5.
