Three officers charged in a teen s fatal shooting appeared in court Tuesday along with their attorneys.
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A judge denied a motion Tuesday afternoon to throw out a case against three Honolulu police officers charged with murder in a teen’s fatal shooting.
The ruling allowed the preliminary hearing in the case to move forward.
Among the first witnesses called in the hearing was Honolulu’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Masahiko Kobayashi, who conducted the autopsy of 16-year-old Iremamber Sykap.
Kobayashi said Sykap sustained eight gunshot wounds in the April 5 shooting, including to his head, neck and heart. ....

HONOLULU (AP) Honolulu prosecutors maintained Thursday that there s legal authority to prosecute three police officers in connection with a shooting that killed a 16-year-old Micronesian boy.
Prosecutors filed the charges after a grand jury declined to indict the officers for the April 5 shooting that killed Iremamber Sykap, who police said was driving a stolen car linked to a series of crimes and led officers on a chase.
In a response to a motion by a lawyer for one of the officers seeking to dismiss the case, prosecutors laid out reasons why the law supports prosecuting the officers for murder and attempted murder. ....
