Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala Meet at Office of the Organization of American States in the Adjacency Zone

The claim by Guatemala to Belize’s territory, islands, and seas is before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). However; for the time being, both Belize and Guatemala are now discussing areas of cooperation and other concerns.
Hon. Sen. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration of Belize, and H.E. Pedro Brolo Vila, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, met on Thursday at the Office of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the Adjacency Zone. It was the first meeting between the two foreign ministers since they assumed their respective posts.
The two foreign ministers exchanged updates in the efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Belize and Guatemala and agreed to reactivate the Belize-Guatemala Joint Commission. ....

Belize and Guatemala’s Foreign Ministers Meet at Adjacency Zone
Foreign ministers Eamon Courtenay and Pedro Brolo Vila met for the first time this morning at the Office of the Organization of American States at the Adjacency Zone. The meeting was cordial and productive and both government ministers made their way over to the border marker in a symbolic show of unity which is also a recognition of the existence of Belize’s boundary.
