There are questions tonight about Belize’s homegrown economic recovery plan after Reuters news agency is reporting that creditors have been urging Belize to agree to an I.M.F. program, and Belize is accusing its bond holders of cancelling a zoom call. Foreign Ministers of Belize and Guatemala Meet at Office of the Organization of American States in the Adjacency Zone

The claim by Guatemala to Belize’s territory, islands, and seas is before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). However; for the time being, both Belize and Guatemala are now discussing areas of cooperation and other concerns.
Hon. Sen. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration of Belize, and H.E. Pedro Brolo Vila, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, met on Thursday at the Office of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the Adjacency Zone. It was the first meeting between the two foreign ministers since they assumed their respective posts.
The two foreign ministers exchanged updates in the efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Belize and Guatemala and agreed to reactivate the Belize-Guatemala Joint Commission. ....
