People, i watch television and i hear more hate of obama than love of obama from the other side. why is the love of obama side so puristic they don t think he s been good enough. where the right wingers say he s plenty bad enough. he s so far left and yet the left says he s not left enough. why is this here? there always is. if you look at the vote to authorize the war in iraq a few years ago which many liberals were horrified by, still 84 democrats in the house of representatives voted to give bush the authority to authorize the invasion of iraq. do you think 84 republicans are going to vote with president obama for a much more limited campaign in syria? no, they re not. they enforce, they re dogmatic ....

Resolution to this deal. the problem is they can t accept yes. and they want more. and they won t accept those tax hikes because of it. you know, but if you went three years ago, if you look back three years ago, the debate wasn t whether we should do tax hikes and entitlement reforms. it was whether we should cut now or spend now. and we re not even talking about spending now. the stimulus part is missing. yeah. but the question the republicans, though, have given a bit on the revenue side. sure. that was theologically out of it. that s now into the mix. if you want to be an optimist, you say more things are on the table than were before the election. the pessimist would say yeah, but there still isn t the substance of an agreement. the mechanics, i mean, what we have on the obama side, you have an election that pretty much, you know, they took as a mandate, if you will, where, you know, the very issue of taxes was sort of legislative, and the americans basically said ....

Anyway. he struggled to get through the primaries. this is a time when people are down on wall street. the nominee was closer to wall street than ever. huge mistake from the primaries. getting to the right of rick perry on immigration. well, it turned out that latinos were a lot more important to mitt romney than rick perry was. and in the long run, had a lot more to do with the outcome of this race. also, people will say that he should have taken on the auto bailout sooner. we ve learned that senator rob portman of ohio had urged him to do that for a long time. and the campaign s view was, we ve lost those voters anyway. but it turns out the voters who cared about the auto bailout were working-class voters that romney needed and should have gotten. on the obama side, if the president loses, if the pollsters are surprised if a lot of people have egg on their faces, people will say americans fell out of love. ....
