KPIX The Late Show With Stephen Colbert July 11, 2024

Personal friend barack, as he has asked me not to call him, president obama. Well, it turns out the president and i had so much to talk about, we actually couldnt fit it all in one show. I mean, we could have, but that would have meant more time with an american icon, and fewer commercials for nasal decongestant and obviously no one wants that. Its the story of Barack Obamas first 27 months as president , and, at almost 800 pages, it will take most people 27 months to finish. Its the first memoir meant to be read in realtime. We call it the constitution. And that was held by the library of congress and the type of thing. It wasnt until the 1930s the United States got serious about its records. Iwas Franklin Roosevelt was passionate about records and that we actually created and he signed the legislation that created the archiv ....

CSPAN3 The July 4, 2024

Good morning. My name is kevin gaines and its a pleasure to welcome you to the Miller Center for a conversation about the postpresidency of barack obama. In his farewell address, president obama spoke of threats to american democracy and called for an actively engaged and vigilant citizenry to preserve democracy. It falls to each of us, he said, to be those anxious, jealous, guardian of democracy, contemplating his future as a private citizen after the honor of serving his fellow americans. Obama pledged, as he put it, that he will be right, right there with you. As a citizen, for all my remaining days, he urged Young Americans to believe in themselves and their ability to effect change. We know what happened next. The Trump Administration sought to undo the policies of his predecessor, and at every turn, trump sou ....
