The Oak Grove City Council met Tuesday for a regular meeting in which the council approved the second readings of amendments to two animal control-related ordinances and discussed Oak Grove Police Department staffing and handbook issues. The first ordinance animal-control related ordinance amendment detailed the change to the number of animals Oak Grove citizens may have. When the ordinance was originally passed, the council voted not to include a limit, but have since changed the limit to no more than three if the same animals and require that citizens have no more than eight total animals inside the home. The same ordinance also changed the penalties of violating the section pertaining to dangerous animals. ....
The proposal to the council was for the extension and easement of Walter Garrett Lane. Peterson explained following the meeting that the proposal is for the city to acquire land located on Walter Garrett Lane in order for the road to be extended and straightened for the future purpose of creating a commerce park. âThatâs the first step in trying to attract industry and factories into that area to make it kind of a commerce park for the city of Oak Grove and Christian County,â Peterson said. âSo, we have been in discussion with the landowners and (city council) to try to get this started. Basically, all weâre doing right now is starting the process and this was the first step in that process to do some development over there.â ....
