The madness of King George comes to mind when considering the proposed cycling contraflows along some of the narrowest side streets in the city centre which will lead to the loss safe walking space in these streets for pedestrians, a question of the safety of the scheme for drivers and cyclists alike and whether there will be continuation of on street parking in these streets if the safety aspect is to be seriously considered. ....

NINE months of further road closures are expected to cause significant disruption in Chester city centre from next month. Currently, the Clockwise Chester scheme has been able to see a new, large surface rainwater drain installed along St Martin s Way and Nicholas Street, with little disruption, largely thanks to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions limiting traffic, and also due to the implementation of a new one-way system for Chester s ring road. Large-scale drainage tunnel works on St Martin s Way. That has seen traffic go one way clockwise around Nicholas Street, St Martin s Way, Vicars Lane and Pepper Street, with St Oswald s Way unaffected and continuing to have traffic flow in both directions. ....
