Jersey City students named Hudson County Spelling Bee champ, junior champ

Jersey City seventh-grader Mujtaba Raja of Academy I, left, and fifth-grader Vansh Sunil Patel of School 27, the Alfred Zampella School, also in Jersey City, won the junior champion title in the 2021 Hudson County Spelling Bee.

Two Jersey City students are being celebrated as top spellers this week after being named champion and junior champion of the 2021 Hudson County Spelling Bee.
Seventh-grader Mujtaba Raja of Academy I won the champion title after surviving two tie-breaker rounds in competition with students in Grades 6 through 8. And fifth-grader Vansh Sunil Patel of School 27, the Alfred Zampella School, competed against students in Grades 2 through 5 to win the junior champion title.
