QPR in the Community Trust’s education team recently took a group of local students to The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic to take part in The Fest Hub – a competition connecting football, education and STEM
They are filling some of the 50 vacant governor places. One volunteer, Outreach Manager Krishna Maroo, has been a volunteer governor at her former secondary school, Northolt High, for the past year, joining online meetings during lockdown to ensure activity is not affected. She said: “There is a huge shortage of governors in Ealing, both in primary and secondary schools, so to be able to give back and be involved in addressing that is so inspiring.” Prof Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWL, said having people at the heart of the community was another way of growing partnerships in Ealing.

A total of 149, made up of 118 flats and 31 family homes, will be built by Network Homes at Dabbs Hill, close to Northolt High School. A total of 131 homes are designated for shared ownership and 18 for London Affordable Rent. The land has been unused for 15 years and the money raised will go towards a new building for the school. It is the firm’s latest investment in Ealing, following completion of the £100m regeneration of nearby Rectory Park in August and new developments in Southall.
