Moffat County swimming sees 400-yard free relay team earn state tournament spot

A handful of Moffat County swimmers clocked personal bests at the 3A Regional meet in what was one of the best meets of the season for the Bulldogs, which also saw the 400-yard free relay team clinch a state tournament spot.
The state-qualifying 400-yard free relay team of seniors Ellina Jones, Alexa Neton and Kelsey McDiffett, and junior Hailey Knowles will head to Thornton to swim at the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center (VMAC) for the 3A State Meet on March 13th. At regionals on Saturday, the 400 Free relay dropped over seven seconds for a finishing time 4:09:85.
The Bulldogs’ best individual performance was from Jones in the 100 yard backstroke, as she finished in eighth place, with a time of 1:11.80, good for a personal best time for the senior. ....

Moffat County swimming competes at Glenwood Springs meet

Back in the pool for the first time since Jan. 30, the Moffat County High School girls’ swim team made the trip to Glenwood Springs Saturday to compete in the GSHS Demon Meet against Glenwood, Gunnison, Grand Junction and Summit Saturday.
In the Demon Meet, Moffat County competed in nine of the 12 events, finishing fifth overall in the meet.
The first event the Bulldogs finished in was the 200-yard Medley Relay, in which the team of sophomore Katie Lockwood, junior Anna Cooper, freshman Amanda Dietrich and sophomore Sarah Johnson finished seventh overall with a time of 2:20.40. The Bulldogs also had another team in the 200-yard Medley Relay, made up of senior Tiana Nichols, sophomore Nora Gianinetti, senior Allison Jacobson, and freshman Emma Fritz. The relay team placed 11th overall with a time of 2:46:89. ....
