wolf blitzer s on assignment. i m alex marquart, and you re in the situation room. and first up tonight, our exclusive report on a federal criminal investigation into former president donald trump. attorneys for the former president unable now to locate a classified document that he referenced on an audiotape now in possession of prosecutors. kaitlan collins is on the team that broke the story and has the latest. take us through what we know. reporter: what happened is mario martin, this press aide to former president trump who was in the white house and now has followed him to mar-a-lago, went and testified as many people who were in that orbit these days have gone before jack smith s investigators. she was in there in mid-march, we re told it was shortly after she left that grand jury that prosecutors sent a subpoena to the former president saying that they wanted any and all documents related to iran and general mark milley, the chairman of the joint chiefs that trum
police then discovered he could be tied up to ten additional killings. cnn s ed lavandera is following this for us. ed, what did this double murder suspect tell police? reporter: well, on may 24th, raul mesa jr., who is 62 years old, calls the austin police department and asks to speak with a detective, an investigator. the phone call starts with him saying my name is raul mesa, and i think you are looking for me. and according to an arrest warrant affidavit, that sparked a 14-minute-long conversation where investigators say mesa essentially confessed to these two murders. the first being the murder of 80-year-old jesse fragga in the austin area which happened in early may. the second goes back to may of 2019. a woman by the name of gloria lofton who was 66 at the time and a neighbor of mesa, in the neighborhood where he lived back then at that time. now as you mentioned, investigators say since then they have been able to come to the realization that perhaps mesa is connected to at
