Exeter town manager out on voluntary leave, interim named

Exeter town manager out on voluntary leave, interim named EXETER – Town Manager Russ Dean has been on voluntary leave for the past month, and there is no set timetable for his return, according to Select Board Chairman Niko Papakonstantis. Melissa Roy, assistant parks and recreation director, was announced as interim town manager by the Select Board Feb. 22. Roy did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “The town is fortunate to have the resources we have,” said Papakonstantis. “In reviewing the workloads of all department heads, and given Melissa’s professional background, the Select Board felt that this selection on an interim basis would allow the town to continue operations without interruption.”

Exeter DPW workers 'quarantine in truck' to clear snow after COVID cases

Exeter DPW workers ‘quarantine in truck’ to clear snow after COVID cases EXETER  Two town Department of Public Works employees who recently tested positive for COVID-19 landed a majority of workers in quarantine over the past week-plus, creating a large staff shortage ahead of the two most recent snowstorms.  Public Works Director Jennifer Perry told members of the Select Board Monday the leadership of her department needs to “reinforce” the requirement for mask wearing among workers. Perry said a “good percentage” of the DPW staff was required to be quarantined, and Health Officer James Murray was tasked with conducting full contact tracing. She said due to lack of manpower, the department was forced to develop a “quarantine in truck” policy ahead of two recent snowstorms, during one of which a water main break occurred.

Hart received the first-ever Commander’s Coin issued by his unit, the 104th Fighter Wing. Lt. Col. Jeremy Dugan said the coins are given by commanding officers to service members under their command for their exemplary service.
