Staff at Rita’s in Southampton. A NEW restaurant with a blow dry bar is set to open in Southampton today. The Oxford Street site once occupied by Mexican eatery Chimichanga has been turned into a cocktail bar, restaurant and blow dry bar. It comes as licensing bosses in the city granted a new licence to the venue which will open at 5pm this afternoon. Called Rita’s, the site is expected to create a total of 27 jobs. Owner Nicky Sargent, who has run hair salons across Southampton over the past decade, will be running the new venue with her husband Richard.

The British Academy for Film and TV Arts (BAFTA) has scrapped the special prizes at its TV awards this year.
After receiving severe backlash for honouring Noel Clarke in April, the British Academy for Film and TV Arts (BAFTA) has scrapped the special prizes at its TV awards this year.
Clarke was given similar award in April by the same organisation.
The main TV awards will take place on June 6 but there will be no Fellowship prize of Special Award. Last year the award was won by Idris Elba.
BAFTA told individuals that it has temporarily paused awards within its gift as it reviews procedures. The decision was taken after BAFTA received harsh criticism for pressing ahead with Clarke`s Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award recently. This inspite of being presented with allegations of sexual conduct made against the `Bulletproof` and `Doctor Who` star.
