Scientists say our oceans have hit their hottest recorded temperature largely because of Climate Change, with alarming implications for the planet. This week the average daily global Sea Surface Temperature hit almost 21 degrees celsius. Thats far above the average for the time of year and it beats the previous record set in 2016. The oceans are a vital regulator of the earths climate. Heres our climate editor, justin rowlatt. Theyve been taking measurements of Ocean Temperatures here in plymouth for more than a century. And for the last 50 or so years, theyve shown a slow but steady increase up about a third of a degree a decade. Have we got a reading for today yet, do you know . I heard them Say Something around 18 or 19, which is four

Extended from nine to 19 years. Mr navalny was found guilty of inciting and financing extremist activity and creating an extremist organisation, charges he denied. Hes already serving a nine year term for fraud and contempt of court, in a case which many see as politically motivated. Todays Court Proceedings were held in the prison in melekhovo, where he has been held, and from where our russia editor, steve rosenberg, reports. This is the closest we were allowed to get to russias most famous prisoner. Wed been let inside the High Securityjail where Alexei Navalny was already incarcerated. But journalists werent allowed into the makeshift courtroom. All we could do was watch on a screen. At this trial behind bars, the kremlin critic was found guilty on extremism charges and handed a new 19 year prison sentence. Hel ....

And it has just reached a new peak 20. 96 degrees celsius, the highest Global Average sea temperature ever recorded. The worlds warming waters are a dangerous trend, say experts. Peoples perspective is that the ocean is so big, so vast, that it can buffer anything that humanity can throw at it. And the reality is thats not the case. Everything has its niche within the ocean, and its incredibly easy to break that niche and influence it and upset it. Take plankton. These tiny plants and animals are crucial to life on the planet. Theyre the basis of the entire Marine Food Chain and produce half the oxygen in our atmosphere. So, every other breath you take. And they are sensitive to heat. Many species have been migrating north as the worlds oceans warm. Personally, im really concerned. The heatwaves that were experiencing on land and the

Resettlement scheme, where they have the right to live and work in the country and many were housed in what was intended to be a temporary basis in hotels and that was paid for partly through government funding. Vets that scheme is coming to an end and back in april they government wrote two people who were in that Emergency Accommodation telling them they had three months to leave.
