Members of the New Hampshire Army and Air National Guard arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Saturday. They were greeted by Sen. Maggie Hassan upon arrival. The group is part of 25,000 National Guard troops who have been authorized to help provide security at Wednesday’s presidential inauguration in the wake of the assault on the U.S. Capitol. Officials with the New Hampshire National Guard said they are there to support local law enforcement and federal authorities. They said their mission is to make sure people at the Capitol are safe and to secure that area as well as other locations in the city.
